NICK WHEAT'S NETWATCH

New from KRB Publications is "A Lifetime in Traction" by Arthur Tayler. This is something for diesel and electric enthusiasts, particularly those with an interest in the Southern Region. Arthur Tayler spent his professional life working with non-steam traction on the Southern from 1948 to 1980 - and he took his camera with him everywhere he went! His book contains a wonderful selection of previously-unseen photographs of tests, trials, and other unusual workings, as well as captions that give an insight into the development of "Modern Traction" (not so modern now, of course!) as seen through the eyes of someone who was very much involved at the time. Price £14.95. 96 pages, softback, black and white with full-colour cover. ISBN: 0954485920.

You can order this book post-free from: KRB Publications 2 Denewulf Close Bishop's Waltham Hants SO32 1GZ

Purchasers of the two TRAX books, also published by KRB Publications, "Wiring the Layout" and "Track Design", are advised that the TRAX discussion group is now up-and-running. If you have any questions about the software, this is the place to ask, as the creator of TRAX, Jeff Geary is a member of the group. To join in, go to:

The following report has appeared on the BBC:

The locomotives found under the sea would clearly have been express passenger locomotives since they have 6' 6" wheels. They could therefore not be anything that was being sent abroad for war service. They are apparently, unlike the rest of the shipwreck, very well preserved.
