RAILDATE: the weekly newsletter of the Hursley Park Model Railway Society: http://www.ibmhursleyclub.org.uk/ss/hpmrs/

BOOK NEWS

Two titles to tell you about this week...

First, the revised and much extended second edition of "The Wirksworth Branch" has been published to coincide with the restoration of passenger services to the line.

"The Wirksworth Branch" by Howard Sprenger. £14.95. The Oakwood Press & Video Library, P.O. Box 13, Usk, Mon, NP15 1YS. email: oakwood-press@dial.pipex.com

* * * Price to HPMRS members: £12.00 * * *

Secondly, KRB Publications has produced the definitive work on the Irish turf-burning locomotives by Ernie Shepherd. This is the full story of Bulleid's Turf Burner together with the other Irish non-coal-burning steam locomotives. This book will appeal to anyone interested in steam traction and O.V.S. Bulleid. You really don't have to be an Irish railway enthusiast to enjoy this book.

"Bulleid & the Turf Burner (and Other Experiments with Irish Steam Traction)" by Ernie Shepherd. Pages: 100, Illustrations: Approximately 80 plans, photographs, drawings £17.95. KRB Publications, PO Box 269, Southampton, SO30 4XR . email: krbpublications@ntlworld.com

* * * Price to HPMRS members: £14.50 * * *

(I'll be signing copies of "The Wirksworth Branch" at Wirksworth station on Saturday 11th from 11.00am to 4.00pm. I'll also be attending the Gauge O Guild show at Telford with the KRB Publications stand. A busy weekend! Howard.)
