NETWATCH

Paul Bartlett's fotopic Wagon update:

BR & LNER Trout ballast hopper ZFO (C#565118) - 29 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c565118.html One for the specialist wagoner, collection includes both a very few LNER versions of the wagons and detail photographs. Until the very last scan I was fascinated by how consistently these appear to have received their TOPS codes and lost the names - this is most unusual for the late 70s period, and then the last one has both the wrong code and a zero instead of an O. Pretty scarce - they seem to have been more popular in Scotland if the results of one quick sortie up there is typical.

Fisons Ammonia tanks, Chas Roberts 1958 (C#563855) - 13 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c563855.html An attractive alternative to the Airfix (showing my age!) class B Esso tanks. They were green from new and lasted well. Pretty difficult to get, one of the few rejections I received was my request to look around Bristol Parkway - but nice photos through the fence!

BSW & BSR Bogie bolster D Timber wagons (C#562810) - 10 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c562810.html Reminding me how difficult finding loaded wagons could be.

ICI liquid chlorine, unfit (C#560127) - 33 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c560127.html One we have published a drawing of, I will do the Northampton drain train conversion soon.

MAT Cartic 4 1st batch - Rootes (C#558021) - 29 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c558021.html Other Car carriers collections have beeen very popular - am I correct to suspect it is the cars which are of greater interest? Longbridge - what a dump! No wonder no one can make it pay, apart from into their own pockets.

RLS Clyde Cement PBA Covhops (C#552266) - 7 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c552266.html Goes with the PDA, amazing how short lived some wagons are - history begins today - Remember your uncle Paul has told you.

RLS Clyde Cement PDA Tanks (C#551110) - 13 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c551110.html By request. Why am I not surprised the loco is more popular than the wagons. Nice wagons, nice livery - very much of its time.

MODA Warflats PFB, KFB, and WW2 (C#542577) - 25 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c542577.html Mixture of the WW2 wagons and their replacements.

BR Izal Palvan VPV diag 1/221 (C#539785) - 14 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c539785.html One of the special van fleets built for one customer whom soon gave up with rail! If anyone knows more about the Izal factory (apart from the initial excellent report in Transport Age) I would like to hear from you.

MODA Warwells PFV, PFB and KWB (C#538203) - 40 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c538203.html The WW2 Warwells and their rebuilding as modern wagons. Note the confusion of TOPS codes with the Warflats and gain some understanding of why I do not accept TOPS codes as describing a wagon - they don't!

LNER Dolphin rail, ballast and sleeper wagon (C#534954) - 52 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c534954.html Quite a variety here, of design, rebuilding, number series and colour. I wonder if we will ever understand the LNER departmental number series?

BR Dolphin YAO diag. 639 (C#533734) - 32 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c533734.html and the BR versions of the same, more standardised, but then hacked about.

BR 16t minerals, includes SNCF (C#529418) - 31 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c529418.html Slowly I will 'do' the mineral wagons. I know they are half the fleet, but hey you all know them already.

MAT 94xxx series Carflat (C#525521) - 13 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c525521.html Cars, you like cars, I give you cars. These wagons suddenly seemed to appear from nowhere - were they stored, were they on the continent?

TRL PCA PC009F for Lever Bros & Albright Wilson (C#523238) - 18 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c523238.html Another request for the purple wagons. Includes details.

BR Blue spot fish vans (C#521664) - 25: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c521664.htm How quickly traffics are lost. I noticed in one of the books on LNER loco sheds that two of these were working with a breakdown crane by 1970.

World War 1 Warflat as Bogie Boster (C#519756) - 9 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c519756.html Nice to remember what one could trip over, not so long ago!

Grain wagons on BR (C#85932) - 32 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c85932.html

Depressed centre wagons for Ketton cement TLG/TRL 946x (C#66639) - 2 photographs: http://gallery6801.fotopic.net/c66639.html

And finally... from Renaud (Ron) Olgiati...

Heard somewhere on London Underground:

"Please allow the doors to close. Try not to confuse this with 'Please hold the doors open'. The two are distinct and separate instructions."
