RAILDATE: the weekly newsletter of the Hursley Park Model Railway Society: http://www.ibmhursleyclub.org.uk/ss/hpmrs/
Ian Griffiths is a member of Fareham and District Model Railway Club, and for their recent exhibition, he and a colleague from the club undertook the challenge of building a new layout in 2 months! It is in On scale, that's 7mm/foot on N-gauge track, and is called Watt Estate. It purports to be a private estate railway somewhere in the South of England carrying timber, produce and coal for estate use. The viewing part of the layout is 4ft by 2ft, and reuses some old flat earth boards salvaged from a previous layout. The concept is to build a series of views around the estate, the first being a smithy (based on the Hursley village forge), stables and engine shed/workshop, with the intention of having a walled garden behind. It will be interesting to see how the layout progresses after its debut last weekend.
The Members' Showcase has been updated with pictures of Ian's East Meon Viaduct and more views of Derek Gillkerson's New Stanton Lees:
