The Soller Tram and Railway in Mallorca - Part 1 of 3

As you arrive at the Port of Soller, Mallorca, by sea, one of the first things you observe is an entry-forbidden "Zone Militar". However, some local wag has ignored this and graffitied: "The Spanish Armada sails Again!" (in Spanish) on the buildings. Soller and its port are like an hourglass cut out of the mountains. The northern bulb - the port - is open to the sea, and the higher southern bulb, almost surrounded by the heights, is the pretty town of Soller. Connecting them is The Tram, of which more next week...
