The Gosport Railway Society is the owner of a OO model of the station. It was built by G A Allcock, author of the book on "Gosport's Railway Era". The model is currently in the care of the Fareham & District MRC with the intention that it will be renovated once their new club rooms are sorted out.

Not long after being involved in the notorious "Exeter Central Incident", Ian Riley's unrebuilt 34067 "Tangmere" suffered a rare failure at Rugby on 12th May. The cause is not yet known but the result is a hole in the sump and a now banana-shaped inside connecting rod snapped clean in half:

As a result of this, the Kingfisher Railtours Wareham to Bristol and return on Saturday 20th May has been cancelled, as "Tangmere" was due to provide haulage.

Tony Hillman's website covering Southern Railway publicity. The site was recently extended, and now includes advertising and publicity from the early days of Network South East, including the TV commercials:

Thanks to Ralph Rawlinson for spotting this one...

The cast and filmmakers of Columbia Pictures' The Da Vinci Code today helped Eurostar set a Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop international train journey. The record was set as the Eurostar train arrived in Cannes, with the cast and filmmakers onboard, for the start of the Cannes Film Festival.

The Eurostar journey, which took 7 hours 25 minutes, started in London at 09.40 London time this morning, after stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou and director Ron Howard, had named the train "The Da Vinci Code". It is the first time a Eurostar has made the journey with travellers from London to Cannes, and the longest non-stop high-speed journey in the world, with a distance of 1421km.

An official from Guinness World Records certified the record-breaking run and confirmed the record distance during a presentation on arrival at Cannes station.

See what they can do when they try? Now that it has been demonstrated that Eurostar can reach Cannes at an average speed of 191.6 km/h (119 mph), there is no reason why Eurostar services to Lyon, Basle and Lausanne cannot be operated. In 2007, Eurostar will switch its UK operations to London's St Pancras International. Journey times will fall further with London-Paris only 2h 15m, London-Brussels 1h 51m and London-Lille just 1h 20m.
