RAILDATE - your free weekly guide to what's happening, what's new and what's on

The Altrincham Electric Railway Preservation Society:

A recent exploration of Burbage Tunnel on the Cromford & High Peak Railway:
This branch became disused in 1892, so the tunnel hasn't seen a train in 119 years!
(Spotter: Tom Baldwin)

Apologies to those who followed last week's link expecting to see a Video of Caledonian Railway
828 on the Severn Valley Railway and instead saw an S&DJR 7F - Youtube played about with the
link after I checked it!  This is what you should have seen:

Flooding in Switzerland from Swiss Rail forum
Heavy rainfalls combined with quickly melting snow have flooded the central and Eastern Alpine
region.  BOB and ZB have closed lines and some of them are said to remain closed for 10 days.
At the moment Brienz-Meiringen, Dallenwil-Engelberg and Zweiltschinen-Lauterbrunnen are
closed, but a bus replacement service has been established.  Also BLS had to stop train
services between Frutigen and Kandersteg, and as the road is in no better shape, the parallel
bus had to be suspended as well.  Kandersteg can be reached from Brig.  "Schweiz aktuell" from
Swiss tv might give you an impression:
