Between the 5th October and 15th November 2015, Dr David Turner is running a wholly on-line learning for pleasure course entitled "The Development and Impact of Britain’s Railways (1825-1914)" through the University of York's Centre for Lifelong Learning.  This six-week course explores how the railway network grew and altered Britain's society and economy.  It also encompasses the development of railway management and railway employment.  The cost of the course is £66.  For more information and to enrol, go to
