A new website to bring links to all publicly available online train running data and service information (what there is of it) together onto one website. It also contains links to some of the best sites for journey planning etc.
Page one links to things like the National Rail travel update site, HAFAS, National Rail, thetrainline and to what I think are the best of the online rail maps. It also links to the TOCs own travel update pages.
Page two is a list of all 2600 or so Railtrack stations. These link to the online station arrival and departure boards wherever these have been provided by the TOCs. Since 1999 the Vintage Carriages Trust has had an on-line database of preserved railway carriages which is freely accessible to the public via the Vintage Carriages Trust Web Site

The database contains more than 3,500 entries of which more than 2,500 have accompanying pictures and condition reports. The database is the only of its kind and has been compiled by volunteers.
This database is now also available on PC CD-ROM which offers many benefits over the web based version including multiple search categories which can be combined to create more detailed searches.

The full-size reconstruction of Winchester Chesil station (well, a bit of it!) is part of a railway scene that also includes a small goods yard, complete with a Great Northern Railway wagon(?!) Housed in the station building is the 4mm scale model of Winchester Chesil created by the Southampton gorup of the ScaleFour Society.

The Dartmoor Railway which operates from Okehampton to Meldon in Devon, has a new summer timetable in operation, with steam services planned every weekend from 5th May 2001 using an Austerity 0-6-0ST. On certain days a return service will operate in the afternoon from Okehampton to Sampford Courtenay (no joining/alighting), which will be steam hauled.
The Dartmoor Railway is operating normally in spite of foot and mouth restrictions operating on Dartmoor, with services running every weekend throughout the year, and during the week in high season. Railway passangers may access Meldon Viaduct (with fine views of Dartmoor and Meldon Dam), the Visitor Centre and the Buffet from Meldon Platform, however due to the F&M restictions it is not possible to access the moor itself, at present.
The visitor centre at Meldon has been refurbished, and the shop at Okehampton has been extended, now has an extensive range of books and souvenirs in addition to the Hobbyhorse model shop.

The 15-inch gauge line is laid along four miles of the old Lancashire and Yorkshire Clayton West branch, and includes the longest tunnel on any 15-inch gauge line in Britain. Details of special events have been added to the Dates section.

Published on March 21st, 2001, "Primrose Hill Remembered" is a book of over 80 memories and recollections of living or working in Primrose Hill during the Twentieth Century. At the beginning of the 20th Century, this was a solid railway workers' area but the changes have been immense. The line is still there but the workers have gone.

This miniature railway runs through the Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley. Motive power is provided by Maurice the Diesel and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a steam engine, which is in steam on most Saturdays. Fares are normally £1.50 (adult) and £1.00 (child), but rise to £2.50 per person on special event days (£5.00 per person for Santa Specials). The railway is open all through the year, every weekend and in the school holidays from 11.30am. Special events will be included in RAILDATE throughout the year.
